The Heather Hill Civic Association is dedicated to strengthening the fabric of our community by providing a platform for open dialogue, supporting initiatives for safety, sustainability, and beautification, and promoting neighborly engagement. By nurturing a spirit of collaboration and collective action, we aim to uplift every resident, fostering a welcoming and vibrant environment where all feel connected, informed, and empowered. Together, we can ensure that Heather Hill remains a place we are proud to call home.

Ashly Giddens
President
Ashly Giddens is an active member of the Heather Hill Elementary School community, serving on the PTO Board where she collaborates with parents, educators, and administrators to enhance the educational experience for all students. With a strong commitment to fostering engagement and supporting initiatives that promote academic excellence, Ashly plays a key role in organizing events, fundraising efforts, and advocating for resources that benefit the school.
In addition to her work with the PTO, Ashly is a dedicated community leader and mother whose passion for education and equity drives her involvement in broader initiatives across Flossmoor School District 161. She brings experience from both her professional legal background and volunteer work, including serving as a coach for youth sports, planning community events, and advocating for child safety and education.
Ashly is also running for the Flossmoor School District 161 School Board in the April 1, 2025, election. Her campaign focuses on promoting academic excellence, ensuring school safety, and fostering stronger relationships between students and educators.
As a proud resident of the Heather Hill community, Ashly is devoted to creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive both academically and socially. She is eager to continue working with families and stakeholders to make a positive, lasting impact on the community.

Dominica McBride
Vice President
Dr. Dominica McBride is a proud resident of Heather Hill, where she lives with her husband and two children. As a mother and neighbor, she cherishes the community's rich cultural diversity, natural beauty, and strong sense of connection. Whether enjoying local parks, school events, or building bonds with neighbors, Dominica is deeply invested in the well-being and vitality of the place she calls home.
Professionally, Dominica is a nationally recognized community psychologist, speaker, author, and founder of BECOME, a nonprofit organization advancing community transformation and movement building. Through BECOME, she leads efforts to co-create thriving, equitable communities by integrating culturally responsive evaluation, leadership development, healing practices, and systems change.
With over 15 years of experience, she has supported dozens of communities, coalitions, and organizations across the U.S., helping them build capacity, strategy, and collective power. Her work focuses on drawing out the wisdom, brilliance, and vision already present in people and communities—especially those historically marginalized.
Dominica is also the author of Becoming Change Makers: The Exquisite Path to Leadership and Liberation for Women of Color, which illuminates transformative stories and practices for leadership grounded in authenticity, justice, and liberation. She continues to speak, write, and teach nationally, while staying grounded in local life and the everyday joys of family and community.

Crystal Clemons-Cleggett
Treasurer
Crystal Cleggett a wonderful asset to the Heather Hill Community! Her enthusiasm for service, combined with her background in social services and higher education, makes her an effective and empathetic advocate for community engagement. As a wife and mother, her personal connection to the area, along with her desire to celebrate the Heather Hill and Flossmoor communities, suggests that she’s genuinely passionate about creating a vibrant and supportive environment for all residents.
Her involvement in the Heather Hill Civic Association is a great way to channel her skills into meaningful action. Crystal brings both professional expertise and personal commitment to strengthening the Heather Hill community.
